Print Specs & Guides
Everything you need to send clean leather patch files to the laser or UV printer.
Artwork
- Vector SVG is best — it engraves and cuts with crisp edges and never warns on resolution.
- Raster art should be 300 DPI at final size (a 3" patch needs 900 px). 250+ is OK, under 200 will look soft.
- For engraving, dark = burn. Use Invert if your logo is light on dark.
- Remove white backgrounds before engraving or the whole box will burn.
Sizes & shapes
- Patches run 1" x 1" up to 5" x 4". Most hat fronts look best at 3" x 2.25" to 3.5" x 2.5".
- Keep text at least 0.18" tall and lines at least 0.02" for clean engraving.
- Keep artwork 0.1" inside the cut line; borders sit inside the inset you choose.
Sheets & nesting
- Default leather sheet is 12" x 24" ($28.80 at $0.10/sq in).
- 0.25" gap and 0.5" edge margin are safe defaults for laser kerf and hide edges.
- Allow rotation packs more patches; turn it off for grain-directional leather.
Production files
- Cut SVG: red #ff2d55 hairline paths in inches — import as a cut/score layer.
- Engrave PNG: black-on-transparent at export DPI — set as an image engrave layer.
- UV print PNG: full color with bleed, plus registration marks matching the cut file.
- job.json lists every placed item with position and rotation.
